ALGEBRA 1 COMMON CORE (MAT 125) 1 Credit

This course of study leads to the Algebra 1 Common Core Regents examination. This course is aligned with the New York State Common Core Standards. By the completion of this course, students will have a deeper understanding of functions. Areas of study include: relationships between quantities and reasoning with equations, linear and exponential relationships, descriptive statistics, expressions and equations, and quadratic functions and modeling

INTERMEDIATE ALGEBRA (MAT 330) 1 Credit 

This course is designed to provide an adequate mathematical foundation for the student who is going to college. Topics covered include: a review of the fundamentals of elementary algebra, solutions of systems of equations, solving quadratics, graphing of second-degree equations, an introduction to trigonometric functions, computations with logarithms, and exponential functions. A scientific calculator will be utilized for this course.

TOPICS IN MATH (MAT 220) ½ Credit 

This course of study will help strengthen students’ algebra and geometric skills. Key topics include triangles, quadrilaterals, circles, transformations, and coordinate geometry. A scientific calculator will be utilized for this course. 

LOGIC (MAT 222) ½ Credit 

This half year course is designed to provide students with an in depth understanding of reasoning and problem solving. Key topics include truth tables, logic proofs, math systems and sets.  

MATHEMATICAL APPLICATIONS 1 (MAT 322) ½ Credit 

This is a seniors-only half-year course. Students will utilize basic concepts of mathematics in real world applications. This course will educate students in the mathematics needed in the transition from high school to life beyond high school. Students will learn the calculations and applications of all types of income. Students will also learn how to manage their earnings and assets. Projects and guest speakers are used to enhance the curriculum.  

MATHEMATICAL APPLICATIONS 2 (MAT 323) ½ Credit 

This is a seniors-only half year course. Students will utilize basic concepts of mathematics in real world applications. This course will educate students in the mathematics needed in the transition from high school to life beyond high school. Students will learn the calculations and applications of all real life expenses and necessary debt. Students will learn how to manage the everyday debt associated with home ownership, vehicle maintenance and day to day living. Budgeting and minimizing debt as well as the effects of incurring debt is also discussed. Projects and guest speakers are used to enhance the curriculum.
